Marginal Gentrification and Racial Capitalism in a Post-chocolate City

Researchers have found that gentrification is less likely in Black neighborhoods than White or Latinx neighborhoods, and looks different neighborhoods. For example, researchers experience marginal gentrification—changes the educational level but not income of residents. This study uses Census National Historical Geographic Information System (NHGIS) data to explore relationship between racial change Washington, DC 2000 2019.
